τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν τὸ ζῳοποιοῦν,

Spiritus est, qui vivificat,

È lo Spirito che dà la vita,

"It is the Spirit who gives life;

ἡ σὰρξ οὐκ ὠφελεῖ οὐδέν·

caro non prodest quidquam;

la carne non giova a nulla;

the flesh profits nothing;

τὰ ῥήματα ἃ ἐγὼ λελάληκα ὑμῖν

verba, quae ego locutus sum vobis,

le parole che io vi ho detto

πνεῦμά ἐστιν καὶ ζωή ἐστιν.

Spiritus sunt et vita sunt.

sono spirito e sono vita.
