CONCLUSIONI
PROSPETTICHE
Mai
si parla di “poveri” nel capitolo 25 di Matteo.
Questi
sono stati però menzionati e lo saranno ancora, criticmaente, solamente, in Mt
5,3 (“«Beati i poveri in spirito, perché di essi è il regno dei cieli.”), la
prima volta, quindi in 11,5; 19,21; 26,9.11 (“I poveri infatti li avete sempre
con voi, ma non sempre avete me.”).
Il
“povero” al singolare, non è mai nominato da Matteo.
In
Matteo 25 si parla piuttosto di 10 vergini, 5 solo delle quali prudenti che si
salvano; di talenti, con la cattiva fine del solo servo inutile, che non ha
moltiplicato il talento – che in fine gli viene tolto e dato a chi ne ha dieci
e lui condannato duramente come malvagio; segue quindi il testo sul “giudizio
finale” (vv. 31-46) di cui Mt 25,40 fa parte (“E il re risponderà loro: “In
verità io vi dico: tutto quello che avete fatto a uno solo di questi miei
fratelli più piccoli, l'avete fatto a me”.”)
Qui
Gesù stesso, in veste di Cristo Pastore e giudice universale, valuta il comportamento
delle nazioni (cfr. ) radunate attorno a lui nell’ultimo giorno, in base a
quanto i pagani e tutti quelli che non l’hanno conosciuto, hanno fatto o hanno
messo nei riguardi dei “fratelli” più “piccoli” e indifesi di Gesù – cioè a
tutti i dispersi, perseguitati, fuggitivi tra coloro che hanno creduto e
obbedito al Cristo come Signore.
Gesù
dice di considerare suo “fratello, sorella e madre”, “chiunque fa la volontà
del Padre mio che è nei cieli” (Mt 12,50). Questa fraternità è la condivisione della
figliolanza rispetto allo stesso Padre. Chiunque quindi, per essere suo
fratello o sorella “avrà lasciato case, o fratelli, o sorelle, o padre, o
madre, o figli, o campi per il mio nome, riceverà cento volte tanto e avrà in
eredità la vita eterna.” (Mt 19,29).
Matteo
dunque, nei vv. 31-46 del capitolo 25, non sta dicendo di aiutare socialmente
qualunque povero della terra, ma suggerisce ai pagani di accogliere, ospitare,
curare, ascoltare i fratelli e sorelle di Gesù, e tra costoro i più piccoli e
bisognosi di tutto perché pellegrini e fuggitivi sulla terra.
